THE DREAM Monday, September 05, 2011

Last night I met and interacted with my long dead Uncle. I even gave him a conciliatory hug as it didn't seem to matter that he didn't pass the family standards of what is proper any more. He was notorious in my family for his homosexuality and duplicity.

When I met him in my dream he seemed like he always was and he gave me a machine to help me do what I was working on but it just didn't work. He turned to his off sider and instructed I be given another one with more of the gadgets on it I needed.

It was clear to me this was impulsive on his part as it would be taken from the shop shelves where I was working. I was slightly alarmed as there was no money changing hands and I knew the books would not reconcile.

Since my uncle was in this dream I decided to dialogue with him as he died when he was a year younger than I am now.

In real life my uncle was always a bit wary of me as I had a habit of trying to pin him down when he was inconsistent. I just knew I had to keep an eye on him as he was sly and would be happy to let me take the rap if things went pear shape.

In this dream I seemed to make my peace with him. There were lots of things happening in this dream and many of the relatives form my father's side of the family were present. They were all dead in real life and the activities we undertook in the dream all seemed to go wrong.

As this dream closed I drove a white Austin A40 into a yard where there were many just like it. My task was to negotiate through the yard even though I had a strong notion I would get stuck. As I moved forward I had a sense that at least with the Austin A30 we could turn it round by lifting it by hand.

The dream closed with me realizing the Austin A30 did get stuck. I could see what was going to happen. Everyone was standing around noticing how stuck the car was as I accelerated upwards and out of this dream scene at a rapid pace. I knew what was going to happen next so I decided not to hang around. It seemed pointless to waste my dream time on it any longer.

And that is the end of my dream. I found it all rather amusing as I have no idea why these are the characters that needed to be in it.

I could not help but wonder if this dream linked to the dream of my dead mother the previous two nights. This is a new series if it is and I have not decoded it yet. I don't feel sad but sort of bemused if I was to define my feelings right now.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION In the last few days I have been auditing the work of my team. As I worked I decided one worker was not doing his job and gave his work back twice as it was badly prepared. In the end the project went backwards by doing this as the worker just didn't get what had to be done and the work was returned even worse than previously.

In the end I gave up returning it and spent some 27 hours repairing the damage done to meet my Thursday deadline that I already knew was not negotiable .

This work has been consuming all my time and I had not expected it at this late stage in the project as this worker was well supported and I helped with the more challenging aspects of his job.

There was a time I would have been overwhelmed by this. Today my supervisor checked my work and advised me I was well in control of my workload.

This could be what this dream is about. I suspected this worker of duplicity when he started to call me by my Surname only and was always smiling and joking to deflect me from confronting him about his work.

Unclesirbobby (POSTED September 5, 2011, 15: 1: 56) Hi

Well this portion really just describes this co-worker.

"In real life my uncle was always a bit wary of me as I had a habit of trying to pin him down when he was inconsistent. I just knew I had to keep an eye on him as he was sly and would be happy to let me take the rap if things went pear shape."

Dreams use people in the past as symbols. They represent behaviour which they typically showed and which was relevant RIGHT NOW. Its really the minds way of saying "My co-worker was acting just like my Uncle used to. I was trying to pin him down but could not"

This portion also seems relevant...

"I knew what was going to happen next so I decided not to hang around. It seemed pointless to waste my dream time on it any longer."

So now just read the dream again and take out all the people and the bizarre story. The dream just captures two strong feelings and emotions which pinpointed just exactly how you felt about the incidents the day before.

Iceberg rose (POSTED September 5, 2011, 18: 1: 55) I agree with your analysis.

Isn't it amazing how the dreaming mind can create such graphic stories to explore issues so that the context and the emotions can surface at the same time. This is what I like most about dreaming. I get to see my life from a dreaming point of view and all I have to do is go to sleep.

Unclesirbobby (POSTED September 7, 2011, 02: 3: 31) Dreams always seem to use very strange symbols. They seem bizarre and its amazing how they form metaphors. The mind seems to write short plays which seem so strange but once understood they will capture your exact feelings. The kind of feelings that you would write in your diary.

If your dream was about this co-worker then its unlikely that he would feature in it as himself. Dreams use other peoples behaviour as symbols for types of behaviour. Your uncle clearly behaved in a similar way. So your mind is saying "my co-worker behaved like my uncle".

Think about it. It would be pointless having a dream about your co-worker straight off. It would be a pointless metaphor. A metaphor has to be about something else. It would be your minds way of saying "my co-workers behaviour reminds me of my co-workers behaviour". That's a pointless metaphor. Its like saying "that sunset yesterday was like that sunset yesterday".

Instead our minds build up a knowledge of people and how they behave. Your mind noted down how your uncle behaved. When you had this dream you were clearly trying to understand your co-workers behaviour. You understood it by comparing it to someone from the past.
