THE DREAM - I was closing a door and a lion barged in sending me in a sprint.

THE REALITY The night before the dreamer shouted at his son. He had just told him to go to bed yet he had immediately got out again. The dreamers wife pointed out that he had just got out of bed to give his parents a hug. The dreamer said that he didn't care but realized that this looked ugly. He told himself to go up to his sons room and hug him. But he allowed too long to pass and so missed the opportunity.

DREAM ANALYSIS Dreams will tend to concentrate on key thoughts and feelings. Often these will be very easy to spot in real life. Yet dreams are often very symbolic. This dream does not mention the incident the night before explicitly at all. Yet its obvious that the dream seems linked.

Tigers should be easy to spot as symbols. Look for some incident or thought which involves tiger like behavior or tiger like people. Its a simple metaphor. Its saying that someone was as ferocious as a tiger. In this case the dreamer recognized that his own behaviour had been 'ugly' the night before. He had lost his temper snapping at his own son. We think through incidents the day before. In this case the dreamer spotted his own mistakes and would in future attempt to learn to do things better.

What could the sprint mean in the dream. It obviously has some relevance to the situation. Maybe he is placing himself in his sons shoes and his sprint represents a dislike for his fathers temper. A more obvious meaning is that he realized that he should have sprinted up them stairs and given his son a hug. He lost the opportunity because he didn't move quickly enough. It may alternatively show that the incident happened so quickly that the dreamer did not have time to respond. We cannot know exactly what a symbol means. Yet we can think through ideas.
