THE DREAM: Before this dream I had a dream about a university or college. I laid awake wondering what the dream meant. When I got back to sleep I had another dream and again this dream featured a university. I was in the library and was studying.

THE REALITY: In real life the dreamer had just had a dream about a university and had wondered what it meant. Dreams are in the here and now and it is likely that this was a dream about a dream. It's meaning was simple and is captured in this following quote - "I was really curious about the first university dream and the second dream was merely a university dream about the earlier university dream."

Dreams then are about the here and now as the thoughts we have just before sleep are highly likely to trigger a second dream using similar symbols. A thought right now is more important than spending time thinking about deep seated issues from the past. Even when you have dreams about deep seated issues from the past it is likely that the meaning is linked to the here and now as we look for deep issues in the context of the present.

Quite often we can have a dream which seems to carry on where the previous dream left off. This is because the mind is full of thoughts about the first dream. Simply put we dream about recent thoughts and if those thoughts were about a dream then we will have a dream about a dream.
