THE DREAM I was in the countryside with some people, one of whom was my ex brother in law(who I don't like). We had been going through various villages, one of which was Rillington. I came to a decision that I was going to set off home on my own. I was going alone. I told this to the people I was with. However, I had to ask in which direction I needed to go because I did not know the way home.

GUESSWORK The dreamer had recently moved into a care home. He had been really enthusiastic about this as he felt he would get to meet some new people. however, he had reverted back to his old self and was becoming increasingly isolated. He had now come to accept that he was destined to spend most of his time alone.

DREAM ANALYSIS The main portion of this dream revolves around a wish to go home alone. Dreams will often hint at major issues which feature similar themes as in real life. The dreamer had reported an acceptance that he would be on his own. The story in the dream seems unrelated to this trait in his personality but it nevertheless repeats a theme which was running in the dreamers own mind. The other symbols also seem consistent with the dreamers increasing isolation. The countryside and villages are symbols of remoteness. In the countryside and villages you rarely see people. So it could symbolise a thought like "I have become isolated and rarely see people". The dream also features someone he does not like - his ex brother in law. That could symbolise other people he doesn't like or a thought such as "of the people I am meeting some of them I simply don't like". The dream also features the dreamer asking his way back home which could symbolise a thought such as "I am wanting to head in a new direction but I am not sure where I am going to".
