THE DREAM I was back at college and involved in a joint project with two extremely bright students. I was telling them what needed to be done and that I would complete my part during the night. I then set about the task. However, I looked for my laptop but could not find it. I was extremely frustrated and annoyed as my laptop contained some impressive work. Then I came to the conclusion that someone had stolen my laptop. Then I added to that saying that about a month previously I had also had my laptop stolen. So there was a thief about. I was still frantically looking for the laptop but could not find it. Eventually I gave up the search and joked that whoever stole it would have a Linux laptop and that they probably wouldn't be able to sell it. But I was resigned to losing my files.

I then woke up and later on in the night I had a similar dream. I dreamt that I had lost my files and was frantically searching for them. BACKGROUND INFORMATION I have been worried about losing my files and have been trying to buy disks to store back ups. However, I have been continually frustrated by back up disks that do not work. The next day I worked out how to use the disks properly. I had not been safely removing them. I have also been frustrated by my lack of progress with a project I am involved in. I am blighted by ill health and tiredness and am feeling my age.

THE INTERPRETATION Dreams often repeat important emotions which we have been feeling recently. This dreamer had been frustrated at the lack of progress in a major project he was involved with. He had also been frustrated by his lack of ability to back up his files. As in the dream he needed to protect his work in case of a computer malfunction. He had lost many good work with computer crashes. He was very aware of the risk of losing work. This dream prompted him into trying out a different way of backing up his files. He had previously thought it was not necessary to remove back up disks safely. But the next day he tried it and it seemed to work well.
