Using psychology we find that "comfortable" in dreams in our database link to the following real feelings

- "I have just been having really bad arguments with my boyfriend and I am need of some SUPPORT"

- "I have had a really bad couple of months and I am need of some SUPPORT AND SYMPATHY."

- "I have mental health problems but just recently I have been a lot more SETTLED and able to cope."

- "I wanted to put down my dog at the vets but in the country I am in they don't put dogs to sleep. I wanted some SYMPATHY but got none."

- "I was trying to make an effort to be nice to my coworkers but one was wanting to be left alone. I didn't get the FEEL GOOD FEELING that I wanted."

- "I have started to realise that I feel LESS NERVOUS around my crush when his Mom is there too."

- "I have just broken up with my boyfriend and was surprised at the AFFECTION he showed."

- "I am getting divorced but I keep thinking about how I GET ALONG WITH my brother in law."

- "I had a really bad day the day before and I was wanting to feel a lot more SETTLED."

- "My friend was telling me about her new boyfriend. It all sounded good but I started to think how she might not have as much time for me."

Research into feelings of comfort in dreams :Understanding dreams is not so difficult. In practice dream symbols translate into certain words within the English language. For instance a "comforting" dream may simply capture your feeling that "I was stressed out yesterday and needed some peace and quiet".

Key words linked to the symbolism of comfort in dreams?
- "Feeling OK" (Did you feel good about something yesterday? Are you meeting someone who leaves you with a feeling of well being? Did something leave you in a good mood yesterday? Are you feeling a lot calmer than you usually do? Did you feel a huge sense of accomplishment yesterday?)
- "Wanting to cut someone out of your life" (Have you been thinking of trying to avoid someone? Would life be better off without someone? Is there someone whom you try to avoid? Are you wanting more support off someone?)
- "They were very comforting" (Was someone very supportive yesterday? Has someone become much more comforting than usual? Do you wish you had more attention off someone who you are attracted to? Do you wish you could be less stressed out around someone?)
- "In need of some peace and quiet" (Was yesterday very stressful for you? Are you not looking forward to today as you will have a lot to cope with? Is your whole life in turmoil?)
- "It was more easy/difficult than I expected" (Are you trying to master a new task? Did you feel something was easier than you thought it would be? Were you thinking about a new task?)
- "Feeling anxiety" (Do you try to pretend to feel OK on the outside when you actually feel anxiety? Do you suffer from anxiety which can come on quite suddenly?)

Notice how some of these keywords feature an either/or e.g. "It was more easy/difficult than I expected". That is because some dreams try to assess how we feel on a scale. This one way in which our dream mind monitors how we are coping. They use symbols in a very sophisticated way. The dream mind may use symbols in a way which ordinary dream dictionaries cannot cope with. Think of ways which a symbol may appear in real life such as "I want to be in a situation where I feel comfortable but it never seems to happen". See how the dream uses the word comfort but the meaning does not link to comfort.
