dream analysis study

Using psychology we find that REAL dreams with the word "Stress" in link to the following real feelings. Each quote represents a summary of the thought or emotion which triggered the dream. Links to full dream analyses appear at the bottom of this page.

- "I have a business which is suffering financially and it is beginning to affect me personally." (If you have a stress dream then it often just means that you are suffering stress in real life. The story in the dream may seem totally unrelated but that is how your mind stores feelings and emotions - same feeling but strange story)

- "I really find it DIFFICULT BEING AROUND HER because of my sexual feelings for her." (sexual tension can be a cause of dreams which feature stress)

- "My grandmother is coming to stay for six months. She REALLY DOS MY HEAD IN." (Again a dream featuring stress features a strange story yet an all too familiar feeling of stress in real life and in the dream)

- "I am PARANOID that my husband could CHEAT ON ME." (stress in extreme amounts could hint at psychiatric problems such as paranoia)

- "I have been PUT UNDER MASSIVE PRESSURE by my family to find work." (Think of words which are related to "stress" such as "pressure" as they can help you find a more accurate meaning to your dream.)

- "Now my brothers have gone back to college my father has more time to PRESSURE me not to wear short skirts." (Again a stress dream was triggered by family pressure)

- "I HATE BEING MARRIED as my husband CONTROLS EVERYTHING IN MY LIFE. It is making me PARANOID" (stress in life leads to stress in the dream. The story in the dream does not seem related to the real life stress but that is how the mind stores stressful feelings)

Stressing in dreams:Understanding dreams is not so difficult. In practice dream symbols translate into certain words within the English language. For instance an "stressing" in a dream may simply translate into the words "emotionally drained" and the dream captures the feeling "I am drained emotionally because of my husbands antics". Dreams tend to be about very specific things like this yet they only capture your feelings rather than the details of the thought. So the dream makes associations with emotions and thoughts which are affecting you.

Keywords linked to stressing in dreams
- "Emotionally draining" (Has someone left you emotionally drained? Have you been worrying about financial problems? Are problems at work affecting you personally?)
- "Feeling more/less stressed out about someone/something" (Have you been reflecting on how stressed or less stressed you feel about something or someone?)
- "Worrying about the day ahead" (Have you been stressed out about the day ahead? Have you been thinking how you can cope with the day ahead?)

Dreams tend to be in the here and now as they are linked to brain processes which transfer thoughts from short term memory banks into long term memory banks. So that makes analysing dreams much easier. A running dream can symbolise feelings connected with the urge to escape from a stressful situation so a dream will be about that wish right now. That narrows down the subjects that a dream is about.

Many people think that dreams link to vague generalisations but careful analysis shows that they capture very specific thoughts. A dream will link to the types of thoughts that you might write down in a diary or tell a best friend. So if a dream can link to a wish to "escape from a stressful situation" then the dream could capture a thought such as "I want to escape all the stress connected with my ex boyfriend. He is always phoning me up or writing letters". Always try to translate a dreams meaning into quotes like this as that goes to the very heart of dream analysis.
